It looks like retired President of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aimé will be cheering on players as they train to fight the Locust threat.
In a recent blog post which celebrates Gears of War 5 going gold, its development team revealed the game’s achievement list. Nintendo fans will probably notice something peculiar about the first achievement on that list (requiring players to complete the game’s boot camp) – because it makes direct reference to Reggie Fils-Aimé’s infamous ‘My Body is Ready‘ line!
It seems even Reggie himself was in on the fun nod, as he later expressed his appreciation on Twitter:
Despite retiring from Nintendo earlier this year, it looks like the gaming industry won’t forget Reggie’s charisma and personality for quite some time. It’ll be interesting to see how many more companies add cheeky Reggie references to their games in the future!
