GTA Publisher Take-Two “Fully Expects” To Support Switch 2

Last month, Nintendo officially announced the successor to the Nintendo Switch, opening the gates for publishers and developers to discuss the console.

During their latest financial results briefing, videogame giant Take-Two indicated that they would continue to support the Switch going into the Switch 2 era. Take-Two owns a number of major publishers and developers, including 2K Games (Civilization, Borderlands), Rockstar (GTA, Red Dead) and more.

Responding to a question about the extent to which Take-Two would support the Switch, company boss Strauss Zelnick said that they “fully expect” to support the Switch. Zelnick said that Take-Two’s perception of Nintendo’s audience had changed, and this could pave the way for more of the company’s titles to come to Switch 2, although he did not go into specifics.

“We’ve had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo, and we’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release.”

“There was a time when Nintendo platforms are really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule. And now today with Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience.

“As you may have noted, Civilization 7 is now on Switch. So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch [2].”

Zelnick’s comments have had some players optimistically hoping this means the highly anticipated GTA 6 could eventually find its way to Switch 2, provided that the console has the hardware strength to run it. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
