Guide: How To Make A Perfect Snowboy And Craft All Snowflake DIY Recipes For Animal Crossing: New Horizons
With the arrival of December, many Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are now enjoying some new surprises in the Winter season.
Starting from December 11th, players in the Northern Hemisphere will see their islands covered in snow, which unlocks new snowflake DIY recipes only available during this period. You can find quick guide about how to unlock these DIY recipes and obtain the necessary materials for them below:
Gathering Snowflake Materials
- Snowflake materials and DIY recipes are only available when islands are covered in snow, which occurs during the following periods:
- December 11th to February 24th in the Northern Hemisphere
- June 11th to August 24th in the Southern Hemisphere.
- Snowflakes can be seen falling from the air during this period, and can be caught with the net.
- Snowflakes will disappear if you miss them with the net twice in a row.
- Large Snowflakes are obtained by making Perfect Snowboys with Snowballs.
Snowballs And Snowboys
- During the snowy period, players will be able to find two snowballs on their islands each day.
- These snowballs can be kicked and rolled around to become larger, and can be knocked into each other to create a Snowboy once large enough.
- If players manage to create the Perfect Snowboy (head is 90% as big as the body), the Snowboy will give the player a Large Snowflake and a Frozen DIY recipe.
- The Perfect Snowboy will remain on the island for four days, and players can talk to them again to receive more Large Snowflakes.
- A video guide for making Perfect Snowboys can be found below (via Mayor Mori)
Snowflake Recipes
There are a total of 8 Snowflake DIY recipes that use only normal snowflakes, and 15 Frozen DIY recipes that use both Large and Normal Snowflakes. The normal Snowflake recipes can be obtained by popping balloons during the snowy season, while Frozen DIY recipes can only be obtained by building perfect Snowboys as described above.
If you wish to craft all the Snowflake and Frozen DIY recipes, you will need the following materials:
- 146 Snowflakes
- 15 Large Snowflakes
- 10 Stones
- 3 Star Fragments
- 2 Tree Branches
A full breakdown of all the required materials for each recipe can be found below (big thanks to GameWith and Animal Crossing World for compiling this list):
