Nintendo’s popular toys-to-life products, amiibo, can be used in various games to unlock costumes and obtain special rewards.

In this guide, we will show you how to scan amiibo on Nintendo Switch 2 to power-up your gaming experience.

Scanning amiibo

In order to scan amiibo, you have to use it in a Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch game that supports it.

When the game asks you to scan an amiibo, you will have to place it on the analog stick of the right Joy-Con 2.

If you’re using a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, you have to place it over the Nintendo Switch 2 logo as pictured below:

Do not remove the amiibo until the scan is complete.

Both the Joy-Con for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller can also be used to scan amiibo on Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 games compatible with amiibo

As of April 23, 2025, there are four Nintendo Switch 2 games compatible with amiibo. This list may grow over time.
