Pokemon trading has been a staple of the series since its very beginning, with some Pokemon requiring it in order to evolve into their final evolutions.

Naturally, the latest entry Pokemon Legends Z-A is no exception. In order to better facilitate obtaining these trade evolutions, the Pokemon community has once again tried to set up standardized trade codes for Pokemon that require trading to evolve.

Here’s how they work:

• Decide which Pokemon you wish to trade evolve, if it needs an item, equip it to the Pokemon
• Select Link Play in the pause menu
• Select Link Trade, then select Faraway Players
• After you are connected, enter the trade code for your desired Pokemon

• After being connected, select the Pokemon that you wish to trade
• Before confirming, check the other player’s Pokemon by pressing the R button
  • Ensure that the other player’s Pokemon is holding the required item if the Pokemon needs an item to evolve via trade
• If everything is in order, confirm and let the trade take place
• Watch the evolution cutscene
• Offer the newly evolved Pokemon to be traded back if the other player desires it, otherwise you can end the trade.

Using these codes can be useful for players who wish to complete their Pokedex, as well as fulfill the Trade Evolution Research Task to unlock more TMs and the Shiny Charm. Be warned however that there is no guarantee that you will be able to get your traded Pokemon back after the evolution, so use these codes to evolve precious Pokemon at your own discretion.
