Guide: Tips To Complete Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s 7 Star Decidueye Raid
Over the course of this weekend, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet players will be challenging a 7 Star Tera Raid which features a Flying Tera Type Decidueye.
Aside from being the only way to obtain Decidueye in the game currently, the 7 Star Tera Raid gives out a great deal of useful rewards such as Vitamins, Rare Candies, and Ability Patches. This makes being able to complete the raid consistently extremely useful. Below you will find some quick tips and tricks for beating this Raid Battle, as discovered and shared by many members of the Pokemon community.
How To Unlock 7-Star Raids
In order to even participate in this raid battle, players will need to progress far enough in the game to qualify for 7-Star raids. This essentially means meeting the following requirements:
Have completed the story and seen the end credits
Have completed all Gym Rematches and the Academy Ace Tournament
Have completed 10 or more raids rated 4* and above.
Once you have completed these steps, the 7-Star Raid will appear both in your overworld as well as on the Tera Raid board.
Decidueye’s Ability and Moves
The Tera Raid Decidueye has a Flying Tera-Type, meaning that it does more damage with its Flying moves in addition to its Grass and Ghost moves.
As a Flying Tera-Type, it is weak to Rock and Electric type attacks.
Decidueye’s Ability is Long Reach, which allows it to always hit other Pokemon without making contact, allowing it to avoid activating contact abilities such as Flame Body or Static. This ability will not have much effect on Raid Strategy.
Decidueye’s notable moves include the following:
Brave Bird ~ A powerful Flying-Type Physical attack which does massive damage, but will also hurt the user.
Low Kick ~ A Fighting-Type Physical attack which does more damage to heavier targets.
Spirit Shackle ~ A powerful Ghost-Type Physical Attack that prevents the foe from switching out.
Leaf Blade ~ A powerful Grass-Type Physical Attack with a higher critical hit rate.
Air Cutter ~ A powerful Flying-Type Physical Attack which hits all foes.
Feather Dance ~ A Flying-Type status move that lowers the opponent’s Attack by 2-stages.
Swords Dance ~ A status move that raises the user’s Attack by 2 stages.
Decidueye’s Battle Behaviour
On Turn 2, Decidueye will clear all of your buffs and use Feather Dance to lower your Attack stat.
On Turn 4, Decidueye will remove all negative effects from itself and put up its Tera Shield, as well as use Swords Dance to raise its Attack stat.
At 50% HP, Decidueye will use Air Cutter to hit the entire Raid Party
At less than 50% HP, Decidueye will have an increased chance to hit twice per turn.
General Recommendations
Avoid using Pokemon with a weakness to Flying, Grass, Ghost, or Fighting moves. Fainting in battle reduces the timer, and if it reaches zero before Decidueye is defeated, everyone will fail the raid battle.
Avoid using Rock-Type Pokemon. Although Rock is strong against Flying, Decidueye has Grass-Type moves, which are super effective against Rock-Types.
Avoid using Physical Attacking Pokemon. Decidueye’s Feather Dance will cripple the damage output of Physical Attacking Pokemon such as Iron Hands, making it more difficult to lower its HP.
Use Level 100 Pokemon to maximize your chance of successfully completing the raid.
Use Vitamins to maximize your Pokemon’s key stats to increase your chance of successfully completing the Raid.
