Guide: Tips To Complete Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s Mightiest Mark Hisuian Decidueye Raid

Over the course of this weekend, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet players will be challenging a 7 Star Tera Raid which features a Grass Tera Type Hisuian Decidueye with the Mightiest Mark.

Aside from being the only way to obtain Hisuian Decidueye in the game without the use of Pokemon HOME or trading, the 7 Star Tera Raid gives out a great deal of useful rewards such as Vitamins, Rare Candies, and Ability Patches. This makes being able to complete the raid consistently extremely useful. Below you will find some quick tips and tricks for beating this Raid Battle, as discovered and shared by many members of the Pokemon community.

How To Unlock 7-Star Raids

In order to even participate in this raid battle, players will need to progress far enough in the game to qualify for 7-Star raids. This essentially means meeting the following requirements:

  • Have completed the story and seen the end credits
  • Have completed all Gym Rematches and the Academy Ace Tournament
  • Have completed 10 or more raids rated 4* and above.

Once you have completed these steps, the 7-Star Raid will appear both in your overworld as well as on the Tera Raid board.

Hisuian Decidueye’s Ability and Moves

  • The Tera Raid Hisuian Decidueye has a Grass Tera-Type, meaning that it does more damage with its Grass and Fighting moves.
  • As a Grass Tera-Type, it is weak to Fire, Flying, Bug, Ice and Poison type attacks.
  • Hisuian Decidueye’s Ability is Scrappy, which allows it to hit Ghost Types with it’s Fighting-Type moves, as well as make it immune to the attack lowering effect of Intimidate. Players will need to be careful when using Ghost Type Pokemon for the Raid, as well as find other ways to lower Hisuian Decidueye’s attack stat aside from Intimidate.
  • Decidueye’s notable moves include the following:
    • Brave Bird ~ A powerful Flying-Type Physical attack which does massive damage, but will also hurt the user.
    • Triple Arrows ~ A Fighting-Type Physical attack which could lower the opponent’s defense, land a critical hit, or make the opponent flinch.
    • Shadow Claw ~ A powerful Ghost-Type Physical Attack that has a high critical hit rate.
    • Leaf Blade~ A powerful Grass-Type Physical Attack that has a high critical hit rate.
    • Leaf Storm~ A powerful Grass-Type Special Attack that will lower the user’s Special Attack stat afterwards.
    • Bulk Up ~ A status move that raises the user’s Attack and Defense by 1 stage each.
    • Grassy Terrain ~ A status move that sets up Grassy Terrain, which heals all Pokemon on the field after every turn, as well as raises the power of Grass-Type attacks.
    • Swords Dance ~ A status move that raises the user’s Attack by 2 stages.
  • Decidueye’s Battle Behaviour
    • 95% Time Remaining ~  Decidueye will clear all your buffs and use Bulk Up to raise its Attack and Defense.
    • 80% HP Remaining ~ Decidueye will clear all negative effects from itself.
    • 80% Time Remaining / 60% HP Remaining ~ Decidueye will set up its Tera Shield, and use Swords Dance to raise its Attack stat.
    • 60% Time Remaining ~  Decidueye will use Grassy Terrain, followed by Leaf Storm.

General Recommendations

  • Avoid using Pokemon with a weakness to Flying, Grass, Ghost, or Fighting moves. Fainting in battle reduces the timer, and if it reaches zero before Decidueye is defeated, everyone will fail the raid battle.
  • Avoid using Ice-Type Pokemon. Although Ice is strong against Grass, Decidueye has Fighting-Type moves, which are super effective against Rock-Types.
  • Use Level 100 Pokemon to maximize your chance of successfully completing the raid.
  • Use Vitamins to maximize your Pokemon’s key stats to increase your chance of successfully completing the Raid.
  • Use Cheers when necessary
    • Go For It! ~ Boosts Attacking stats.
    • Heal Up! ~ Heals HP and cures Status conditions.
  • Use moves which reduce Decidueye’s stats
    • Reduce Def or Sp.Def to take it down faster.
    • Reduce Atk to prevent it from fainting your Pokemon.
  • Use Pokemon with a Fire, Flying, Bug, Poison Tera-Type to take down its Tera Shield.
