Guide: Tips To Complete Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s Mightiest Mark Serperior Tera Raid

Over the course of this weekend, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet players will be challenging a 7 Star Tera Raid which features a Grass Tera Type Serperior with the Mightiest Mark.

Aside from being the one of the few ways to obtain Serperior without Pokemon HOME or trading, the 7 Star Tera Raid gives out a great deal of useful rewards such as Vitamins, Rare Candies, Ability Patches, and most notably, Herba Mystica. This makes being able to complete the raid consistently extremely useful. Below you will find some quick tips and tricks for beating this Raid Battle, as discovered and shared by many members of the Pokemon community.

How To Unlock 7-Star Raids

In order to even participate in this raid battle, players will need to progress far enough in the game to qualify for 7-Star raids. This essentially means meeting the following requirements:

  • Have completed the story and seen the end credits
  • Have completed all Gym Rematches and the Academy Ace Tournament
  • Have completed 10 or more raids rated 4* and above.

Once you have completed these steps, the 7-Star Raid will appear both in your overworld as well as on the Tera Raid board.

Serperior ’s Ability and Moves

  • The Tera Raid Serperior has a Grass Tera-Type, meaning that it does more damage with its Grass-Type moves.
  • As a Grass Tera-Type, it is weak to Fire, Poison, Bug, Ice, and Flying type attacks.
  • Serperior’s Ability is Contrary, which reverses the effects of all stat changing moves used on it.
  • Serprior’s notable moves include the following:
    • Leaf Storm ~ Grass-Type special move that also sharply lowers the user’s Sp.Attack stat, however, because of Contrary, it sharply raises Serperior’s instead.
    • Gastro Acid ~ Poison-Type move that suppresses the opponent’s ability while it remains in battle.
    • Dragon Pulse ~ Dragon-Type special move
    • Iron Tail ~ Steel-Type physical attack that has a chance to lower the opponent’s Defense stat.
    • Sweet Scent ~ Status move that lowers the evasion of all opponents.
    • Breaking Swipe ~ Dragon-Type physical move that has a chance to lower the opponent’s Attack stat.
    • Glare ~ Status move that paralyzes the opponent.
  • Serprior’s Battle Behaviour
    • 98% Time Remaining ~ Serperior uses Sweet Scent
    • 85% Time Remaining ~ Serperior clears the opponents’ stat changes and disables their abilities for one turn, uses Breaking Swipe
    • 75% Time Remaining OR 70% HP Remaining ~ Serprior sets up its Tera Shield.
    • 75% Time Remaining~ Serperior reduces the player’s Tera Orb charge
    • 65% Time Remaining ~ Serperior clears its own negative stat changes and status effects.
    • 50% HP Remaining ~ Serperior uses Glare

General Recommendations

  • Avoid using Pokemon with a weakness to Grass, Dragon, or Steel moves. Fainting in battle reduces the timer, and if it reaches zero before the raid boss is defeated, everyone will fail the raid battle.
  • Use Level 100 Pokemon to maximize your chance of successfully completing the raid.
  • Use Vitamins to maximize your Pokemon’s key stats to increase your chance of successfully completing the Raid.
  • Use Cheers when necessary
    • Go For It! ~ Boosts Attacking stats.
    • Hang Tough! ~ Boosts Defensive stats.
    • Heal Up! ~ Heals HP and cures Status conditions.
  • Avoid using Pokemon that have abilities which reduce the opponent’s stats (e.g. Intimidate) as they will only make Serperior stronger.
