Monster Hunter Rise features an extremely large variety of different armors for players to forge and wear, some of which can be more difficult to acquire than others.
Typically, armor sets are unlocked for forging after reaching the a high enough Hunter Rank and after acquiring some of the required materials. However, there are a couple of armor sets which need materials that cannot be found by hunting normally.
These “secret” armor sets need special materials that can only be found by via Meowcenaries Expeditions and the Argosy trading vessel, both of which are found in the Village’s Buddy Plaza. To help with unlocking these secret armors, you can find a short guide below:
Meowcenaries Expeditions
- Meowcenaries Expeditions is a feature where the player sends out their Palicos and Palamutes to various locations, and have them return with monster materials.
- When selecting a location to send their Palicos and Palamutes, players may sometimes see a sparkling effect on the icons. This means that there is a chance their expedition will yield one of the secret items required to craft hidden armors.
- The following secret armor sets can be unlocked through this method:
- Chaos Armor = Shadeshroom Item from Shrine Ruins
- Edel Armor = Stargazer Bloom Item from Frost Islands
- Mosgharl Armor = Omegapumpking Item from Flooded Forest
- Death Stench Armor = Sinister Darkcloth Item from Sandy Plains
- Jelly Armor = Gothjelly Item from Lava Caverns
- In order to acquire these items, it is recommended to select routes with sparkling locations whenever possible when using the Meowcenaries feature.
Argosy
- The Argosy is a trading vessel through which players can order useful items, and assign their Palicos and Palamutes to bargain and trade for them.
- Depending on what type of item the player requests, there is a slight probability that their selected Palico or Palamute will bring back a rare bonus item in addition to the requested item.
- The following secret armor sets can be unlocked through this method:
- Melahoa Armor = Dosbiscus Item from trading for Nuts
- Makluva Armor = Springnight Carp Item from trading for Nuts
- Shell Studded Armor = Dreamshell Item from trading for Mushrooms/Bugs
- Rhopessa/Aelucanth Armor = Butterfly Beetle Item from trading for Mushrooms/Bugs
- Spio/Skalda Armor = Toxic Kumori Item from trading for Plants/Fish
- Vaik Armor = Armored Bream from trading for Plants/Fish
- In order to increase the chances of acquiring these rare items, players can use the Shiny Bargain bargaining skill, which is unlocked at High Rank.
