Digital Foundry has published their technical analysis for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, comparing the game to its Wii U predecessors.
A few notable improvements have been found. First, the game’s file size has decreased from 13GB on Wii U to just 2.5GB on Nintendo Switch. In TV Mode, the game is rendered in 1080p, unlike the Wii U’s 720p.
Nintendo has also paid attention in the graphics department, proving that this is not a straightforward port. The game now has better anisotropic filtering, providing better visualization and focus on images. Shadows in the game, especially those below characters, have improved. The details on certain characters, such as Princess Peach, have also changed. You’ll find differences in her face and dress.
