An interesting new mechanic has been discovered in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl which could help others capture stronger Pokemon in the wild.
The mechanic was first highlighted by u/Blackpox on Reddit. When encountering a wild Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, the encounter animation may occasionally zoom in on the player’s trainer character, instead of starting by zooming in on the wild Pokemon. When this happens, it means that the wild Pokemon possesses at least 2 Perfect IVs.
For those who may not be aware, a Pokemon’s IVs (Individual Values) are hidden numbers which affect how high their stats will be when they are at max level. For example, a Pokemon with an Attack IV of 0 may have slightly lower Attack than the same Pokemon with an Attack IV of 31, the maximum number possible (i.e. a Perfect IV).
You can check out a video of this mechanic in action below, via PokeTips:
Pokemon with Perfect IVs are highly desirable either for gameplay or breeding purposes, so players who see this animation while going through Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may want to capture the Pokemon they encountered if they can!
