Japan: Doraemon Story Of Seasons Moves 40% Of Its Physical Shipment On Day One, Digital Sales Less Stellar

Doraemon Story of Seasons has finally made its debut in Japan, and things seem to be going well.

Media Create has reported that the farming sim game has sold through about 40% of its initial shipment at Japanese retailers. This is somewhat decent for a physical release in Japan nowadays.

In terms of digital sales, however, the game is currently only the 15th best-selling title on the eShop this week. That means it’s falling behind even indie offerings like Slay the Spire and (of course) Cadence of Hyrule.

All things considered , the game is probably making back its money – but for a huge household name like Doraemon, it could stand to do even better overall. It’s anybody’s guess whether the game will move more copies once it goes international in Fall 2019.
