Japan: Dragon Quest Builders 2 Moves 207K Copies At Launch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Exceeds 2 Million In Lifetime Sales

Media Create has published their sales data for the period between December 17 and December 23, 2018.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 had a fairly impressive launch week – with over 207,000 copies sold across two platforms. Namely, the PS4 version (No. 4) performed a little better with 110,285 copies sold, while the Switch version (No. 5) sold 97,673 copies.

To nobody’s surprise, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is still No. 1 on Japan’s sales charts. The game sold 452,617 copies this week – meaning that the game has hit a lifetime sales figure of over 2 million copies in Japan now.

Nintendo Switch hardware sales were just as robust, with 278, 701 units sold this week (72.3% of the hardware market).

Meanwhile, Super Mario Party managed to climb up to No. 2, with 155,060 units sold. At No. 3 was Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee, which sold a similarly impressive 144,770 copies across both versions. Overall, it looks like Japanese gamers are still clamoring over what Nintendo has to offer!
