Mobile Marketing Data Labo, a research firm in Japan, has published a report on the usage of video game systems across different age groups.
The survey found that elementary school students in Japan listen to music primarily on their Nintendo 3DS, more than any other age group in Japan. The reason this is so is because a large number of elementary school students living in Japan own a Nintendo 3DS.
Out of the surveyed elementary school students, 66.2% own a Nintendo 3DS, 16.9% own a Nintendo DS, and 36.9% own a Nintendo Switch. We have to also keep in mind that the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DSi are the only systems that come with software to stream music; the Nintendo Switch does not have this feature but Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will allow players to listen to over 800 music on the go. And elementary school students usually do not own smartphones until they’re in high school.
