Japanese Nintendo fans have been talking about how one can easily pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 in the United Kingdom.

As of May 22, 2025, Nintendo has loosened its requirements for Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in several markets – in the United Kingdom, European Union (EU), and Hong Kong, you can pre-order the console as long as you have a paid and active Nintendo Switch Online membership.

News of this has spread to Japan, where it continues to be extremely difficult for most people to pre-order a Switch 2. The news was met with jealousy and demands that Nintendo divert stock from markets with lower demand to Japan. Some joked that it’s time to “fly to the UK” to buy a Switch 2. However, some did note that the Switch 2 is much more expensive in other regions compared to Japan.
