Japanese media FNN News has covered what appears to be an increasing number of vague and misleading Nintendo Switch 2 seller listings on marketplace websites like Mercari and Rakuma.

At first glance, these listings may appear to be genuine listings for the actual game console at retail price, but the description of these listings state that the seller will only send “photos of the product” or an “empty box”.

Rel Law Firm lawyer Kunitaka Kasai says that while listings that clearly state that the product is “just a photo” or an “empty box” will most likely not be considered unlawful, he warned that listings with vague descriptions could be considered unlawful.
