Nintendo Switch 2 prices have significantly crashed less than 24 hours since Japanese scalpers started putting up listings on Japanese marketplace sites.
As of June 5, 11:00pm Japan time, sold listings on Mercari indicate that the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World set (Japanese-Language) went for as low as 64,800 yen (USD452). That’s a 10,000 yen drop from the lowest sold listing (75,000 yen / USD523) 20 hours ago. Keep in mind that the Mario Kart World set retails for 53,980 yen (USD378) in Japan, so there’s still more room for the console to drop.
After factoring in Mercari’s 10% transaction fee, a scalper selling at 64,800 yen would only make 4,340 yen (USD30+), and that’s not even considering the cost of delivery. If prices continue to drop on these marketplace websites, scalpers will start losing money for every sale they make.
