Been itching for a good reason to dust off your copy of Journey to the Savage Planet on Nintendo Switch? Well, a new side-adventure is currently available now!
Developer Typhoon Studios has launched the game’s ‘Hot Garbage’ DLC on the Switch eShop. For $7.99 USD, the new content pack sees players landing on the beach planet DL-C1 – where they’ll be tasked with cleaning up toxic filth and investigating its nefarious source!
Check out the official trailer below, along with further details:
We’d like to thank you for being an exemplary member of the Pioneer Program! In recognition of all your hard work, Kindred has decided to send you on a little trip to the fabulous beach planet of DL-C1! Consider this a “working vacation” since a) you’ll be working and b) the hours will be coming out of your vacation days. Fun!
The long and short of the situation is that DL-C1—you know, the quaint little beach planet we bought for a song a few years ago in a planetary foreclosure—has become covered in toxic filth.
Who turned our little slice of paradise into a simmering stinkhole? Why did they do it? How can we somehow profit off this? That’s why you’re going. We need you to explore the planet, figure out who’s responsible, and gather all the evidence we’ll need to obtain a grossly disproportionate settlement in a court of space-law!
And of course it goes without saying that we’re once again sending you without any additional equipment. The spirit of improvisation and triumph over budgetary adversity is the cornerstone of Kindred’s values, after all! If I were you, I’d first figure out how to upgrade your suit to protect against the poisonous sludge oozing out of every corner of the planet… but that’s just one man’s opinion!
Don’t worry though. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to take a break from the back breaking labour to explore and have a little fun. A selection of beautiful postcards have been scattered across the area for you to collect, and you’ll even have a new method of traversal at your disposal: FLIGHT! Yes, real flight… to the extent that your very modest fuel tank will allow it. Just don’t expect to soar among the clouds.
But wait, that’s not all! To help you make the most of your time on DL-C1 we’ll also be deploying some additional free upgrades (installation and service fees will be deducted from your final pay)! Firstly, we’re adding a whole new set of Photo Mode options and functionality. With a brand new innovation in holographic technology, you’ll be able to place and pose the various creatures you discover in your pictures!
On top of that, we’ll be stealthily dispatching a firmware update to your Nomad Pistol. Aim assist has been improved and enhanced to make dealing with fast, aggressive creatures a snap! Simply aim your gun at your target and scope in to lock on. The autonomous nano-clusters we injected into your body before your departure will (somewhat) painlessly keep your arm laser focused on your foe. Very handy!
Oh, and one last thing: After extensive laboratory testing has revealed that Explorers who view the world through colored filters are significantly less likely to succumb to Space Madness, we’ve also enabled the ability to use Photo Mode filters OUTSIDE of Photo Mode! Isn’t that nice?
