It seems that Mario Kart Tour’s microtransactions have once again become controversial as the latest update for the game has added a Diddy Kong Pack which costs £38.99 GBP.
This pack includes Diddy Kong, 90 gems and a quick ticket at a lower price than the individual 90 gems which costs more.

This does mean that the Diddy Kong pack nearly costs as much as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch which is normally priced at around £40 GBP.
