In the first Famitsu interview about Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda briefly commented on the traditional Pokemon core RPG heading to Nintendo Switch in 2019.
First, Masuda reiterated that both Pokemon 2019 games will be similar to those previously released on handheld consoles such as Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS.
On the question on whether players will be able to transfer their Pokemon from Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee to the 2019 titles, Masuda said he remembers a time where players felt bad about not being able to move over their Pokemon from Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.
Masuda says he hopes to avoid that scenario again but did not offer any explanations on how it would work and whether games such as Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are eligible for transferring Pokemon over.
