Hungry for more info on the upcoming Nintendo Switch port of the original Monster Rancher?
Thanks to a new translation of the official Famitsu article by Gematsu, we now know more juicy details about the modern port.
First and foremost, the game will be getting new online functions. For example, players will be able to download and battle monsters bred by other players.
Additionally, players will not be generating monsters from physical CDs like in the original game. Instead, they will be able to select CD names from an online database to simulate the same mechanic!
Local multiplayer fans are not out of luck, either. The game will also feature two-player local battles, with each player using a single Joy-Con.
Finally, the game will cost 1,760 yen in Japan. There are currently no plans for a western release of the game.
It definitely looks like this is more than just an ordinary port job! We’ll report back when we hear more exciting details about this classic re-release!
[EDIT: it isn’t clear if the game will feature live online battles, we have amended the article to reflect this)
