Mortal Kombat Movie Writer Confirms The New Film Will Be Rated R
A few months ago, New Line Cinema announced that a live-action Mortal Kombat Movie reboot was on its way to cinemas on March 5th 2021.
Given that Mortal Kombat‘s previous film outings toned down the series’ iconic M-Rated imagery in favor of a more friendly PG-13 rating, some fans were wondering if this new reboot would be following suit. According to writer Greg Russo however, the Mortal Kombat reboot will be aiming for a hard R-rating, and will include the series staple Fatalaties in all their blood-soaked glory.
Since it's already been stated by other members of the team, I'm gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I'm not gonna say which ones) You'll just have to wait for the movie & see!!! 😉 pic.twitter.com/aVTewH4t28
