It looks like Nintendo Labo is making great strides in a little corner of Europe.
The Variety Kit has won Netherlands’ ‘Toy of the Year’ award for the age 10 -11 category – according to a professional panel’s decision. Other contenders for the award included board games and laser-tag guns.
Developmental psychologist Ger Ramakers, one of the judges, had this to add:
”The value of Nintendo Labo is found in the building kits. With instructions on the Nintendo Switch, cardboard parts get folded into three-dimensional end products. It enhances spatial awareness, accurate work, concentration and perseverance.”
To commemorate the award, Nintendo Netherlands even had a cute little celebration tweet to share:
Talk about some good publicity! Let’s hope the cardboard kits continue succeeding like this in 2019.
