Earlier this week, Intellivision Entertainment announced that the original team behind Earthworm Jim will be reuniting to create a brand new entry into the series…exclusively for the company’s Intellivision Amico game console.
For those who haven’t heard, the Amico is the latest attempt by former 80s console giant Intellivision to return to the gaming scene. Its planned to launch in October 2020, and employs wireless “remote” controllers that can be charged on the console itself. Its also apparently going to have a feature which allows players to connect their phones to use as controllers.
As for why this new Earthworm Jim game is planned to be an Amico exclusive, it turns out that series composer Tommy Tallarico is now the CEO/President of Intellivision Entertainment. As such, it is likely that Tallarico is trying to secure some enticing exclusives for Intellivision’s new product, though its debatable whether Earthworm Jim will be enough of a draw to get players to justify owning a brand new console.
In addition, the team also announced a special livestream on May 4th to talk about their plans for the game and “engage with fans”. If you are interested in tuning in, the stream can be viewed via Intellivison’s official Facebook, Youtube, and Twitch.
