New Report Uncovers Conflicting Details Regarding Bayonetta 3 Voice Actor Controversy

Bayonetta 3 continues to be the subject of controversy after after the character’s original voice actress Hellena Taylor alleged Platinum Games did not offer her fair compensation for her work, leading to her declining the role for the third installment.

However, a new report published in Bloomberg by reporter Jason Schreier now suggests that Taylor might not have been telling the full story in her original account. Schreier’s sources include two people “familiar with the situation”, as well as actual documentation viewed by Bloomberg and corroborated by VGC.

The sources allege that Platinum Games offered Taylor “between $3k and $4k per session for at least 5 sessions”, rather than a $4k flat rate like she initially claimed. This would have brought Taylor’s payment up to at least $15k, which is also claimed to be a significant increase over her payment for the previous games. However, Taylor refused this initial offer and quoted back a ” a six-figure fee and residuals”, the latter referring to royalty payments. This is where negotiations fell apart according to these sources.

When approached by Bloomberg for comment, Taylor heavily denied this version of the events, claiming them to be an “absolute lie”, and an attempt by Platinum to “save their ass and the game”. She also voiced plans to put the franchise behind her, and continue with her career in theatre.

All in all, it seems that the situation is a lot more complicated behind the scenes, and we may never know the full story surrounding the negotiations and fallout. Stay tuned for more updates should they become available.
