Next Level Games President And Co-founder Douglas Tronsgard Announces His Retirement

Douglas Tronsgard, the President and Co-founder of Next Level Games, has announced his retirement.

Prior to the company’s purchase by Nintendo last year Tronsgard served as Next Level Games’ CEO, overseeing the development of many Nintendo titles such as Mario Strikers Charged, Punch Out!!, and Luigi’s Mansion 3.

In a statement shared by VGC, Tronsgard shared his thanks to everyone that helped him along his 20 year journey in the Video Games Industry, with a special shoutout to Nintendo for believing in him and Next Level Games.

“After over 20 years in the Video Game Industry, I am happy to announce my retirement, I wanted to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped me on my journey to get here. A special thank you to Nintendo for believing in me and Next Level Games. It’s truly been my honour to be a part of NLG’s incredible history. I look forward to a new chapter in my life that should involve lots of travelling with my wife. :).”

As Tronsgard departs, Next Level Games will be continuing its work under Nintendo with Mario Strikers Battle League, which is set to launch on Switch later this year.

We at Nintendosoup wish Douglas Tronsgard all the best in his retirement and future endeavors.
