Ever since the Switch first launched, Joy-con drift has been a frequently reported issue by many Switch owners, and has been the subject of a number of lawsuits in recent years due to Nintendo’s seeming reluctance to acknowledge or address the problem adequately.

Earlier this week, the Dutch Consumers’ Association announced they would be teaming up with eight other consumer organisations in France, Belgium, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, and Norway to investigate the issue. They have also put out a call to Switch owners to report any issues they have faced with the controllers to aid in their investigation.

Consumers ‘Association director Sandra Molenaar also shared the following statement about the issue:

“We are making the call because we are getting signals that the Switch will not last as long as consumers might expect. In addition, options for repairing the console are limited, forcing consumers to make expensive replacements. We use the responses to determine what further action to take.”

According to a spokesperson, the Dutch Consumers’ Association hopes that collecting complaints from all Nine participating countries will force Nintendo to take action to fix Joy-con drift, and they will jointly go to court if no satisfactory solution can be reached.
