Nintendo has announced a very important piece of news concerning the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Nintendo eShop.

Starting September 2019, the Nintendo eShop on both platforms will stop accepting credit card and debit card payments. If you wish to continue using your credit card or debit card to top up funds on the 3DS/Wii U eShop, you must do it on a web browser through the following steps:

  1. Make sure your Nintendo Network ID (NNID) on your Nintendo 3DS/Wii U is linked to a Nintendo Account.
  2. Visit the official Nintendo website, select the payment method you want to use, and follow the instructions provided.
  3. Once payment is complete, you can start using your funds on the eShop.
