Earlier this week, Nintendo released screenshots for a new update heading to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which featured a mysterious house that had fans speculating that new villagers were coming to the game.
To recap, the screenshot featured a villager house that did not match any of the existing houses that were already programmed into the game, leading several fans to believe it could belong to a new villager that was going to be added to the game, or a hint at some other new feature like customizing villager houses.
Unfortunately, Nintendo has since released a statement confirming that the mysterious house was an error, acknowledging that it could not be obtained in the actual game. They have since replaced the screenshot on their official website.
A rough translation of the statement can be found below (via Animal Crosisng World/Googletranslate):
Updated on April 27: Since it was found that the screen shot that introduced the items of “Children’s Day” reflected a house with an appearance that could not appear in the actual game, the corresponding screen was replaced. It was. I must sincerely apologize.
* 4/27 Update: The screen has been found in the screen posted at the time of publication, so it was found that the appearance of the appearance that can not appear in the actual game was reflected, so the screen has been replaced. I must sincerely apologize.
Although fans were understandably excited at the possibility of even more new content for the game, its unfortunate that theories were wrong on the mark this time.
