During Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting Of Shareholders, the company gave a statement regarding the Switch mini rumors that have been circulating as of late.
When the topic of the Switch Mini rumors came up, Nintendo acknowledged their existence, but declined to comment any further on the issue. The reason for this was apparently to avoid ruining the surprise for their customers.
However, the company did mention that they are “always” developing new hardware, which could be taken as hint that they do have something planned.
You can read a translation of Nintendo’s statement below, courtesy of Nstyles on Twitter:
“We acknowledge that there have been reports [about this]. Answering to rumours and speculations would end up stealing surprises from our customers and also be unprofitable to all of our shareholders, so we have no answer to that. As a general theory, we are always performing development of new hardware.”
That said, this latest statement reads similar to what Furukawa said during Nintendo’s financial results briefing earlier this year, and doesn’t really confirm one way or another whether the Switch Mini exists.
Its likely that Nintendo won’t be giving anyone a straight answer about it any time soon, at least until they are ready to unveil their plans.
