Nintendo Confirms That Playtime Bug Will Be Fixed

Some gamers are noticeably angry when the Switch’s version of a Y2K bug reset a great deal of Switch user’s playtimes. After hundreds of hours of playtime on games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, gamers were not at all impressed with Nintendo’s date system.

However, in Nintendo Japan’s support page, Nintendo has confirmed that the playtimes are not actually lost or “reset” but are still somewhere within the Switch. They also confirmed that the bug will be fixed in a future update.

Either that or the bug will fix itself, as it seems that bug is self-resolving, meaning that in about 10 days, the issues will disappear and Switch users will see their playtime statistics again. Either way, it is good to know that at least our play stats did not just vapourise into the Miiverse
