Nintendo Describes Pokemon Scarlet/Violet As An “Evolutionary” Step In The Series
Last month, The Pokemon Company revealed Pokemon Scarlet And Violet, the newest entries into the Pokemon series, to the immense shock and surprise of many Pokemon fans.
While the trailer and starter Pokemon were met with mostly positive reception, many fans have expressed skepticism about the project. Not only is the game coming out less than a year after the very well received Pokemon Legends Arceus, but many are concerned that the innovations to the formula brought by that title will not be carried over to Scarlet And Violet, in favor of a return to more traditional mechanics.
Nintendo at least, seems to believe that Scarlet and Violet will be moving the series forward rather than backward. In a post on Twitter promoting the new games, the publisher described them as an “Evolutionary” step in the franchise, possibly hinting that it will also include radical changes to the formula, although it could also just be referring to the “open world” concept.
A new evolutionary step in the Pokémon series, in Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet you’ll be able to freely explore a rich open world. That said, without any additional details or game footage from The Pokemon Company, whether or not these statements are an accurate description of Pokemon Scarlet And Violet remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more details as they come.
