Nintendo Fulfilled a 16 Year Old With a Disability’s Dream To Be An Actor By Hiring Him For a Switch Commercial

Today we have some heartwarming news to share as information has surfaced that Nintendo fulfilled a 16 year old named Aaron Waddingham’s dream to become an actor by hiring him for their latest commercial.

During the casting call, Nintendo wanted to hire someone with a visible disability to help give more representation to all sorts of different kinds of people in media so they hired Aaron Waddingham who has Down Syndrome.

In an interview with Global News, Aaron’s mother talked about how her son gained the opportunity to be in the commercial.

Nintendo very specifically wanted somebody with a visible disability. It’s very exciting to us that there will be more representation in the media of all sorts of different kinds of people. I think it’s very smart of them to look for that. It feels like there’s going to be more roles for people with disabilities coming up… Things are changing, which is awesome.
