Nintendo Has Trouble Serving Lawsuit To Content Creator Accused Of Streaming Pirated Games Before Launch

Last month, Nintendo filed a lawsuit against content creator EveryGameGuru, accusing him of streaming pirated games before their official release.

Since then, Nintendo has been facing trouble actually getting said creator into court. According to a new court document, EveryGameGuru has somehow managed to evade being served the lawsuit entirely. Nintendo attempted to serve the creator his legal papers at five separate physical addresses to no avail, as well as through email addresses EveryGameGuru has contacted them through in the past. Nintendo goes on to state that they understand EveryGameGuru “either works from home or is unemployed” and they are not aware of any other address they can serve the papers to.

That said, EveryGameGuru seems well aware of the lawsuit and what he is doing, the court document provides screenshots of the creator taunting Nintendo’s legal team on social media and detailing plans to file for bankruptcy in order to evade liability.

In response to this situation, Nintendo has asked the court for permission to serve the legal documents to EveryGameGuru’s close relatives, including his partner, mother, or even grandmother. Nintendo argues that this is an appropriate course of action given that EveryGameGuru is aware of the lawsuit and is intent on avoiding being served. However, it will ultimately be up to the courts to decide what happens next.
