As Nintendo fans know by now, Nintendo will soon be launching the new Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) – which will retail for $50 more compared to the original Nintendo Switch. Based on some industrial experts however, we now have a better idea of how much Nintendo itself is paying to create the upgraded piece of hardware.
According to a recent Bloomberg report with research firm DSCC, the console will apparently cost Nintendo “around $10 more per unit” to manufacture. Within the report, DSCC elaborated that the new Samsung-sourced 7-inch OLED display will cost Nintendo an extra $3 to $5 per unit, while adding more internal storage would represent another $3.50 increase. Meanwhile, the redesigned dock with its additional LAN port is estimated to increase production costs up by a “few more dollars.”
All in all, it looks like Nintendo is set to make bank with the revised model’s release – although this depends on whether the system sells as healthily as the original Switch did.
