Nintendo Has No Plans For Another Metroid Remake

Metroid: Samus Returns, which is Nintendo’s latest 2D Metroid remake, launched a few weeks ago to the fanfare of many Metroid fans.

Franchise co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto was asked whether he’d work on another Metroid remake in the future. Here’s what he has to say.

“It really depends on the reasons you have for undertaking such a challenge, whether there’s a need for it, and your own motivation, but at the moment I have no plans for another remake. I think we need to spend time considering whether fans are only wanting remakes going forward, and what that might mean.”

Looks like Sakamoto may be more interested in making new titles for the Metroid series, rather than revisiting old titles. Which would you prefer?
