Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa Says There May Be Switch Supply Issues In 2022

Over the past two years, the world has been facing a shortage of semiconducters due to production issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had rippling effects on every product that requires such components, including the Nintendo Switch.

In a recent statement reported via Kyoto Shimbun, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa said that the Switch may continue to face supply issues continuing into 2022. According to Furukawa, year end sales for the Switch were quite strong, particularly for the new OLED model, which has led to concerns that Nintendo may be unable to keep up with the demand if the semiconducter shortage continues to affect Switch production.
