Nintendo Renews Partnership With Immersion For Haptic Tech
Nintendo has renewed their partnership with Immersion, the tech company that supplies the haptic technology used for Joy-cons.
The haptic feedback technology is what powers the Joy-con’s HD Rumble feature, which was heavily marketed during the Switch’s initial reveal. Despite this, not many games were released utilizing this function to its full effectiveness, with even Nintendo applying it sparingly.
According to reports, the renewing the agreement with Immersion will allow Nintendo to continue to use the haptic technology for “future products”. The timing of the renewal has lead many to speculate that its in preparation for launching the Switch’s successor, possibly because it also uses Joy-cons, or at the very least, similar haptic technology features. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
