Nintendo Requests Extension Of Time For Eternal Darkness Trademark
Nintendo of America has filed its third request to extend the time to file a use for the Eternal Darkness trademark in the United States.
The first time the company requested a time extension was on November 3, 2017, which was granted. Given that this is the third time Nintendo is making a request for Eternal Darkness, it is unclear whether the US Trademark Office will accommodate Nintendo’s request.
Re-applying for a trademark does not mean Nintendo has any plans to make a new Eternal Darkness game. They may be doing so to protect the Eternal Darkness brand name from being used by other companies. There’s also a possibility that they are working on a new Eternal Darkness sequel, but chances are pretty slim.
