Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cards Are Apparently Slower Than microSD Express Cards

It appears that Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cards have lower access speeds than microSD Express cards.

According to an IGN interview with CD Projekt Red about Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, microSD Express cards have “great” access speeds, while Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cards are “okay”. The developer did not elaborate on how much faster microSD Express cards are compared to Switch 2 Game Cards, so we’ll have to wait for a full teardown and comparison after launch.

Two months ago, Nintendo announced that Game Cards for Nintendo Switch 2 have high access speeds in order to provide fast loading of high quality textures and assets. It’s rumored that the high cost of this new high access speed technology brought about Game-Key Cards.
