Today, we had our first look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Straps, which were never present in any leaks prior to the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer.
There are some key differences between the Joy-Con straps on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with the most important difference being that the SL and SR buttons are flushed on Nintendo Switch 2, whereas they protrude outward on Nintendo Switch, as pictured below:
While the SL and SR buttons are flushed, the top and bottom parts of the strap act as “feet” for the Joy-Con, suggesting that they could be used as a mouse in games such as first-person shooters and simulators. This aligns with the “Mouse-Con” rumors that were circulating in early January 2025.
Further subtle confirmation could be seen through an animation of the Joy-Con (attached to the straps) sliding smoothly across the floor:
