Nintendo has confirmed that Nintendo Switch 2 won’t have achievements.
This was confirmed in a Polygon interview with Nintendo of America’s Bill Trinen, who answered “no”. He did not give an explanation for their absence.
While achievements have been part and parcel of platforms such as Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, Nintendo has never supported achievements on any console. However, some first-party games, such as Super Mario Odyssey, have achievements that are unlocked in-game, so it seems that Nintendo doesn’t want achievements to be mandatory and would rather have them stay in-game.
