Nintendo Switch Sales Have Beaten Wii U Worldwide In Less Than A Year
With the release of Nintendo’s official financial data today, we can now officially say that Nintendo Switch sales have beaten Wii U lifetime sales in less than a year.
As of December 31, 2017, 14.86 million units of Nintendo Switch hardware were shipped worldwide. From the Wii U’s launch in 2012 to the end of 2017, only 13.56 million Wii U consoles were moved.
Nintendo Switch software hasn’t beaten Wii U software sales, however – 52.57 million Switch games were sold as of the end of 2017, compared to 101.65 million Wii U games.
