Last week, Nintendo was forced to take Nintendo Switch Sports offline after its most recent update caused the game to crash during loading screens.
Now, Nintendo has outlined their plans for bringing the game back online later this week. Firstly, a Version 1.2.2 update will be pushed for the game on October 18th 2022, which will reactivate the game’s online mode. This will be followed up by a Version 1.2.3 update to re-enable cloud save backups. Players may need to download both updates before they can play online again.
As compensation for the downtime, all players will have their Switch Online subscriptions extended by one week. Furthermore, from October 18th till November 3rd 2022, players will receive double the amount of in-game points for online play. Finally, there will also be a way for players to buy the weekly items that they may have missed due to the server issues, although details about how this would work were not shared.
