Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular console of 2018 and marks Nintendo’s resurgence after Wii U’s fiasco. Still, in the UK, Nintendo has a little more room to cover according to a study by GameIndustry.
According to their study, the Nintendo Switch represents 19.6% of the game console sales in UK for 2018 while its older brother, the 3DS family of consoles, taking up 2.9%. Interestingly, the Nintendo Wii took up 0.5% of the sales share while Wii U got lost within ‘Others’.
Although this is quite good statistics for the Nintendo Switch, it is still under competitors Xbox and PlayStation 4 at 31.8% and 44% respectively. Meaning there is still room to catch up.
Maybe in 2019 the Switch will take a bigger share of the console sales pie, but until then there is still much work to do.
