Nintendo & Tencent Reveal More Details About Switch Launch In China
During a press event at this year’s Chinajoy gaming conference, Nintendo and Tencent revealed more details about the upcoming Switch launch in China.
Firstly, Nintendo and Tencent once again confirmed that Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild will be among the first Switch games to be brought over to China, with more titles on the way. That said, a clear release window does not appear to have been shared.
Secondly, Tencent confirmed that they will be providing cloud services and servers for Switch Online. Furthermore, the Switch eshop will be modified such that Chinese players will be able to buy games using Tencent’s hugely popular WeChat payment system.
Despite this new information, it seems that the Switch may still be a long way from releasing in the region if no launch date was announced. We will continue to monitor the story, and bring new details as they come.
