Nintendo’s Mobile Games Cross 800 Million Downloads Combined

As part of their latest financial results briefing, Nintendo shared some updated figures for their selection of mobile games based on their existing franchises.

As of 30th September 2022, Nintendo’s mobile games have achieved a combined downloads of over 800 million. This includes long-running titles such as Fire Emblem Heroes, the recently released Pikmin Bloom, the discontinued Dragalia Lost and more. This does not include mobile games under The Pokemon Company’s umbrella. As pointed out by Nintendo themselves, this massive figure exceeds the cumulative unit sales total of all Nintendo hardware launches since the NES in 1987.

In the same briefing, Nintendo credits the mobile games for helping bring Nintendo’s franchises recognition outside the dedicated gaming space, and hopes to leverage on this to attract more fans to purchase Nintendo consoles and Nintendo games. This line of thinking may have contributed to the company’s decision to open a joint venture company with DeNA, who is helped with developing many of these titles.
