Overly Excited Region Free Gamers Flood Niconico Switch App
The Niconico video streaming app has finally launched on the Switch eShop earlier today in Japan. It’s free to download, of course.
Thanks to the Nintendo Switch’s region free capabilities, Americans and Europeans for the first time can also get to enjoy Niconico on a Nintendo console by simply making a Japanese Nintendo Account.
So, what’s the first thing these overly excited gamers do? Swarm the very first video they see with comments. Unlike Youtube, Niconico users can write comments that appear across the screen while the video is playing. This feature can be turned off if users find it annoying.
On an ordinary day, one would find many Japanese comments scrolling across a popular video, but this marks the first time English comments have flooded a video en masse. We hope Japanese viewers aren’t shocked by the amount of English comments!
