Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Switch Remake Outsells Gamecube Version

Earlier this year, Nintendo released a Switch remake for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, one of the classic Paper Mario titles for the GameCube.

In their latest financial results briefing, Nintendo revealed that the remake had sold 1.94 million units since release. This means it has outsold the original GameCube version of Thousand-Year Door, which has a lifetime sales figure of 1.91 million.  This places the game as the fourth highest selling Paper Mario game, behind Sticker Star, Origami King, and Super Paper Mario.

Sales for Thousand-Year Door are likely to continue to rise even with the Switch’s successor on the horizons, given that the new console will support backwards compatibility. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
