During the opening ceremony for the Persona 5 Royal Experience event, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan appeared as a guest on the show.
When he came on stage, he stated that the Persona series isn’t just only important for SEGA and Atlus but also important for Sony who sees it as a platform holder for PlayStation.
He also added the following:
“The Persona series is one of the Japanese IPs that can compete internationally.”
“The IP has walked alongside PlayStation ever since the first entry in 1996. I hope that we can continue walking together in the future.”
This could mean that a mainline Persona title may never make it’s way on to Nintendo Switch with previously only the Persona spin-off games releasing on other consoles.
